Naso

The people presented offerings to God: "...and they brought their offering before Hashem, 6 wagons and 12 oxen.1" Then it clarifies that there was "...a wagon for two [2] princes and an ox for each one (1)." The language is somewhat obtuse. Why not simply state that the princes (or leaders of the 12 tribes) gave 12 oxen and 6 wagons? Instead, the number of offerings is followed by mention of a ratio involving two (2) princes and one (1) ox.

There are numerous opinions regarding the unusual syntax, but none of them explain that these numbers are consistent with the measure for each dimension of the luchot. The first two dimensions of the luchot measured 6 x 12 handbreadths in their divided-side-by-side state. The third dimension measured three handbreadths, but in this third dimension, any two (2) elements (or cubic handbreadths) of the matrix are decidedly different from the other one (1)2

This specific set of numbers in combination with the subsequent ratio, reflects not only the three-dimensional geometry of the luchot, but also the specific ratio involved in permuting the 72 letters in the 3 verses of Parashah BeShalach where the actual letters of God's Name are hidden. We'll provide a three-dimensional model in a moment, to help the reader see the relationship between the wagons, the princes, the oxen, and a much larger reality involving the geometry of the luchot and the letters of the Name.

Meanwhile, if you are new to this blog, please read each of the essential constructs listed in the column to the right before proceeding. These pages reveal some of the basic mathematic connections between the letters of God's Explicit Name and the multidimensional geometric characteristics of the luchot, both in the divided state and combined cubic form, along with the internal geometry that casts a shadow known as a magen david. There is a special connection between the Name, the luchot and the geometry of the magen, and together they form a unique signature. We refer to this geometry and its mathematic common denominator as the Signature of the Architect. The purpose of this blog is to show how all of these things connect, and to reveal where this 'Signature' is hidden, not only in each week’s parashah, but the physics of time and space, quantum mechanics and celestial dynamics to name a few. Once you are familiar with these constructs you can more fully appreciate each post.

The set of numbers describing the wagons (6) the oxen (12) and the subsequent ratio (2 and 1) involving princes and oxen, is a good example of this signature. The luchot were of course three-dimensional and so their volumetric measure is simply the 6 handbreadths of the first dimension times the 12 handbreadths of the second dimension (72 square handbreadths) times the 3 handbreadths of the third dimension (for a total volume of 216 cubic handbreadths). In addition, two (2) cubic handbreadths within any given array of the third dimension, are different from the other one (1) cubic handbreadth, which is sandwiched in between. This is just like the letters of any given triplet. One is the mirror image of the other!

The secret of permuting any given 3 letter group among the 72 triplets, is hidden in this ratio (the number of princes mentioned, to the number of oxen mentioned). The “prince” (being the head of each tribe) is at one end of the spectrum in terms of importance, significance, or status, whereas the "lowly" ox is at the other end of that spectrum. The triplets are permuted in like fashion, with two (2) letters being taken from the head of their respective verses, surrounding the one (1) letter taken from the end of its respective verse as is known. Is this the underlying reason for the obtuse sentence structure and the unusual description of the offerings in terms of 6 wagons with 12 oxen and two (2) princes with one (1) ox for each?

Please keep in mind that this description alludes not only to the letters of the Name (the Triad Havaya of 72) and their permutation, but to the measure of the cosmic blueprint (luchot) that these letters define.

The sequence of letters and/or their linguistic structure, as well as the characteristics of events and other things pertaining to Israel, as described in Torah, are very often a mathematic and/or geometric reflection of the luchot, which are in turn a precise reflection of the numbers, sets of numbers and ratios that characterize the letters of the Name (or its abbreviated subsets) and sometimes, as in this case, a reflection of the actual "permutation" involving the triplets.

To review the connection between the geometry of the luchot and the permuting of the letters, think in terms of each dimension:
  • 1st dimension consists of 6 elements (in the form of linear handbreadths)
  • 2nd dimension consists of 12 elements (side-by-side in square handbreadths)
(the 72 letters in each verse are permuted to create the third dimension)1
  • This third dimension consists of 3 elements (in the form of 3 cubic handbreadths)
(two of the three handbreadths are on the outside of the matrix and one is on the inside)
(two of the three letters are on the outside of any given triplet and one letter is inside)

We also read in Naso that each of the 12 tribes brought offerings over a period of 12 days. The first was a silver bowl weighing 130 silver shekels. The second was a silver basin weighing 70 shekels, the third was a gold bowl filled with incense weighing 10 [shekels].

The ARI tells us that the number 130 is directly related to the 130 years that Adam Rishon was separated from Chava. This pattern ripples through time and space. We see a reflection in Yaacov aveinu’s age at the time he entered Egypt (130) and another in the birth of Moshe 130 years later. The descendant’s of Ya'acov numbered 70 when they came down to egypt, actually 69 plus 1, as the 70th was born the moment they crossed the border. The child born was Yocheved, who would later become Moshe’s mother. Moshe, in turn, would be born exactly 130 years later. The number 130 also alludes to Mashiach, and just happens to be the number of "points of intersection" between each "linear handbreadth" on the two visible sides of the foundation stone (the measured geometry of the luchot). See the post on "The Name in the Stone" and its sequel entitled "The Supernal Stream" for details on this aspect of the signature geometry.

It's easy to see that the numbers 130 (and 70) both have a unique place in the cosmic scheme of things. However, the same is true when certain sequences of numbers in this parashah are compared mathematically to the number of letters in God's Name. For example:

1) There were 12 tribes and the offerings were provided over a period of 12 days. The first item was the bowls valued at 130 silver shekels. The simple product of the numbers in this linguistic sequence, that is the number of days, times the number of tribes, times the value of the trays (12 x 12 x 130) is 18,720, which is the 260th multiple of the number of triplets in the Explicit Name (72 x 260 = 18,720) where 26 is the gematria for it's primary subset called the Tetragrammaton.

2) The simple product of the numbers corresponding to the silver basins (12 x 12 x 70) is 10,080, which is the 140th multiple of the number of triplets (72 x 140 = 10,080). The  10,080 can be expressed as 10 'thousand' and 8 'tens,' the numbers being a function of the volumetric measure for each of the luchot, where 108 is a reflection of the measure for each half of the combined cubic form of the luchot (108 cubic handbreadths) and where 108 is also the gematria of the word "half" ("chatzei" in Hebrew).

3) The simple product of the numbers corresponding to the gold bowls (12 x 12 x 10) is 1440, which is yet another multiple, the 20th (72 x 20 = 1440).

So the first part of Naso alludes to the 3 groups of 72 letters and the method of permutation (in the number of wagons, oxen and princes) and then later in the same parashah, we find the above mathematic reflections where 3 specific sequential sets of numbers pertaining to the offerings, are all context-related multiples of 72

The root integers of the 'products' and the 'multiples' mentioned in the previous paragraph therefore all have great significance. Aside from the number 26 being the gematria of the Tetragrammaton as mentioned; and the 10,080 being a function of the volumetric measure for each of the luchot as mentioned (108) cubic handbreadths; there are 14 elements in a tetrahedron (an internal mathematic construct within the combined cubic form of the luchot). The specific multiple of 144 (tens) alludes to the number of tetrahedrons in 2 cubes (14 elements in 4 tetrahedrons) where each of the 14 elements of the 4 tetrahedrons are internally distributed between the 2 cubes (the 'two cubes' being the shnei luchot that were brought down twice) like the measure of the Altar of Incense (essentially two cubic-cubits).

Other mathematic factors (like the 72 x 20 that equals 1440) are even more specific, as each of the cubes has 2 opposing tetrahedrons within, which together have 72 triangular corners (216) for a total of 144 such corners (432). The 1440 is the geometry for the reign of all 10 pre-flood 'kings' from Adam to Noah3. Add the 216 years in which God reigned alone, and the total is equal to the 1656 years (masoretic text) that elapsed between the creation of Adam and the mabul/flood (1440 + 216 = 1,656). See the post on Bereishit for details.

In other words, the actual geometry of the primordial torah is intricately connected to the letters and the narrative of the Torah of Moshe. This is the best explanation for why each product or multiple of any pertinent sequence of numbers, is a mathematic shadow of a larger reality defined by the cube [of creation] that is in turn 'measured' by the 216 letters.

All of this considered, a few other numbers are worth noting:

  1. The simple mathematic product of the numbers corresponding to the number of oxen, rams, sheep and goats that were burnt offerings (12 x 12 x 12 x 12 = 20,736) is a multiple of the total number of letters in the Name (specifically the 96th multiple: 216 x 96 = 20,736).
  2. The simple mathematic product of the numbers involved in the peace offerings of bulls, rams, sheep and goats (24 x 60 x 60 x 60 = 5,184,000) is also a multiple of the total number of letters in the Name, specifically the 24,000th multiple (216 x 24,000 = 5,184,000). At the same time, it is bright a reflection of the geometry of the kodesh kodeshim (holy of holies) with its 8 golden beams on three sides (a total of 24 beams) giving rise to its measure of 3 x 72 handbreadths outside, and its 60 x 60 x 60 handbreadths inside. Needless to say, the 'measure' arises from the geometry of the primordial torah (luchot) that in combined cubic form measured 6 x 6 x 6 handbreadths, and the tetrahedral geometry hidden that consists of the 12 small faces on each of the 2 subdivided tetrahedrons (a total of 24 small faces within the confines of its outer geometry measuring 6 x 6 x 6). This in turn gives rise to the 72 triangular corners on the surfaces of the star tetrahedron (an intrinsic mathematic aspect in the combined cubic form of the luchot).
In each case, the numbers reflect the nature of a larger reality revolving around God's Name. The two 'instances' above, involving multiples of 216, are a reflection of the shnei luchot that were brought down twice (2 x 216 cubic handbreadths).

Any one of these examples could easily be a mathematic coincidence, maybe even two. However, the repeated occurrence of a precise pattern like this is indicative of design, and in this case the mathematic initials of the designer, e.g. the "royal signature"  having a total of 216 letters that are combined and permuted in the form of 72 times 3 letter/groups corresponding to the measure of the luchot that were brought down twice (432 cubic handbreadths).

If these patterns were found only in the text of the Torah, one might erroneously contend that it was concocted by human authors (albeit with significant knowledge of mathematics) rather than being of divine origin. However, we see the same patterns throughout the entire universe as explained in the essential constructs on Hashem Hameforash (the Explicit Name); "The Nature of Sapphire" which was/is the substance of the shnei luchot (tablets) and especially the post on The Primordial Torah. The pattern is also found in the Carbon-12 mystery (of life) in biology, the measurement of the earth's surface (both mentioned in the post on Metzora) the celestial dynamics mentioned in BeHa'alothekha and the physics of time and space discussed in the post on "The Eight Dimensions," to name a few. It is in fact, the Signature of the Architect that we spoke of in the first few paragraphs.

Are all of these things really connected to the "letters" of the Name? We say, "This is the Torah that Moshe placed before the children of Israel upon the command [literally 'from the mouth of'] the Name, through Moshe's hand." In Hebrew:

וזאת התורה אשר שם משה לפני בני ישראל על פי יהוה ביד משה

The phrase על פי יהוה means: "...from the mouth of HaShem (the Name)." The letters of this phrase just happen to have a gematria of 216, which is the number of letters in that Name.

What was from the mouth of God? The Torah was from the mouth of God. Where was the Torah given? It was given at Mt. Chorev (Horeb in English). In Hebrew, Chorev is spelled chet, vav, resh, vet (חורב) and it too has a gematria of 216. Coincidence? In Torah script, the chet (ח) is written as though it were in the physical form of twin letter zayins (זז) alluding to the sapphire cube [of creation] that was divided into two halves, becoming the luchot or sapphire 'twins' that were ultimately brought down (twice) at this location. When the numeric value of 'Chorev/Horeb' is calculated using twin zayins, instead of the chet, its gematria is still 2163 like the volumetric measure of the "twins" themselves (the shnei luchot) that were 2 (tablets) x 108 (cubic handbreadths) but still equal to 216 cubic handbreadths, or the 'volume' of the foundation stone (evan shetiyah) before division.

When someone learns about God's One Unique Explicit Name and comes to understand how precisely He has 'engineered' the cosmos (and everything else) it often has an unusual effect on their consciousness. Just keep in mind that it is the Jewish people who have preserved this knowledge. They are the only people who know its secrets; how it pertains to creation, the manner in which its letters are permuted; and when, and under what circumstances they are permissible to pronounce.

Next week's post will focus on the celestial dynamics of the Earth and the Moon as they relate to one another, and as a mathematic and geometric function of the letters in God's Name, as well as where this relationship is hidden in the text.
