Parashah Korach is a mathematic corollary to Parashah BeMidbar.
In fact, the reflection of God’s Name that we saw in BeMidbar amounts
to a ‘mathematic prophecy’ that is manifested in the events of Korach.
In
BeMidbar, we pointed out that Eleazar was responsible for transporting
(among other things) the qetoret (incense) and the shemen ha'mishchah
(anointing
oil). These two items figure prominently in this week's parashah
in the rebellion of Korach against Moshe and Aaron.
God appointed
Moshe to lead Israel. Moshe made the anointing oil and he in turn
anointed Aaron, who was the first Cohen HaGadol (High Priest). As
the leaders of Israel, these two men had a special connection to
the anointing oil. Korach, on the other hand did not. He and his
rebels did have an ancillary connection to the incense, since they
brought
their fire pans (for burning the incense) as part of the rebellion, and
it is in the characteristics of these events that we find the mathematic
corollary.
We will examine the corollary in a moment. In the meantime, if you are new to this
blog, please read each of the essential constructs listed in
the column to the right before proceeding. These pages reveal some of the
basic mathematic connections between the letters of God's Explicit Name and the
multidimensional geometric characteristics of the luchot,
both in the divided state and combined cubic form, along with the
internal geometry that casts a shadow known as a magen david. There is a
special connection between the Name, the luchot and the geometry of the
magen, and together they form a unique signature. We refer to this geometry and its mathematic common denominator as the Signature of the Architect. The purpose of this blog is to show how all of these things connect, and to reveal where this 'Signature' is
hidden, not only in each week’s parashah, but the physics of time and
space, quantum mechanics and celestial dynamics to name a few. Once you
are familiar with these constructs you can more fully appreciate each
post. For those who have already read these essential constructs, this week’s
parashah will provide another example of this geometric signature and we’ll
use it to demonstrate the connection.
Before we do, please remember that the 216 letters of the Name that define the cosmic blueprint, correlate, not only in the volumetric measure of the luchot (216 cubic handbreadths) but such things as the number of square handbreadths on its six surfaces (216 square handbreadths) and the total number of degrees in its twenty-four 90 degree angles (2,160 degrees) not to mention the many aspects of its internal geometry like the 72 triangular corners of the star tetrahedron or three-dimensional magen david within (216 vertices).
Also keep in mind that two of the above mentioned examples are static
aspects of geometry (common to any cube) while two are entirely
dependent on the measure of one cube in particular, the cubit-cubed (of
six handbreadths) or shnei luchot in combined cubic form. Therefore, it
stands to reason that the point of convergence between the two (static
and potentially variable parameters) and their correlation with the
letters of the Name, should also be found in the 'geometry' and 'measure'
of events described by the letters of Torah, in the history of the
Jewish people. We see two specific examples in this parashah.
You
may recall that the amount of incense and the amount of shemen
(anointing oil) that Eleazar was required to transport, were both
multiples of the number of letters in God’s Name. These mathematic
reflections initiated in BeMidbar, ripple forward in time to this
parashah where we see them take physical form in the events related to
Korach’s rebellion. There
were specifically 250 men who supported Korach in this rebellion. These 250 men
brought their fire pans to burn incense, whereupon the 250 were
swallowed up by the earth because they refused to accept the leaders
whom God had designated (Moshe and Aaron).
Remember how much incense Eleazar was required to transport in BeMidbar?
It was 54 (thousand drams). This is a context-related multiple of the
letters in God’s Name. Divide the 54 thousand by 216 and you get 250, the very same number of people in the rebellion who had brought their fire pans to burn this very substance (54 thousand divided by 216 = 250). The number (as a multiple of the letters in the Name) and context (the incense as it pertains to that multiple) are the same.
The
four quadrants of the cube [of creation] (shown below) are like any of
the four-letter subsets of HaShem HaMeforash (like the Havayah Ehyeh)
and each quadrant equates to 54 of the 216 elements of the matrix (54 cubic handbreadths of the 216 cubic handbreadths).
The mirror image of the event (as a function of the number of letters) doesn’t end with the incense. We also find it in the numbers corresponding to the anointing oil. Moshe and Aaron were the leaders of Israel. In their position as leaders, both had a direct connection to the anointing oil, Moshe having made it and Aaron having been anointed with it. Remember how much anointing oil Moshe had made, and Eleazar was required to transport? It was 12 lugim or 432 drams. Divide 432 by 216 and you get 2, another specific context-related multiple of the number of letters in God's Name (the volumetric measure for each of the two sets of luchot ultimately brought down by Moshe was 216 cubic handbreadths - the total being 432 cubic handbreadths) and so we see also a correlation with the number of people that Korach and his people rejected (Moshe and Aaron ~ two). Again the number (as a multiple of the letters in the Name) and the context (this time the anointing oil as it pertains to that multiple) are identical.
250 who rebelled with Korach are juxtaposed against...
...the 2 leaders of Israel (Moshe and Aaron).
250 who brought their fire pans to burn incense...
...juxtaposed against the 2 that (either made) or were anointed w/oil.
250 x 216 = the amount of incense
....Eleazer was required to transport
...juxtaposed against the 2 x 216 (drams)
...that was the amount of oil (432)
...he was required to transport.
In other words, insofar as both Korach and BeMidbar are concerned, the number 250 is a function of the amount of incense as it relates to the letters of the Name and this is juxtaposed against the two who were the subject of the rebellion, which is a function of the amount of anointing oil as it relates to the letters of God's Name.
In each case, the numbers are multiples of the 'measure' of the luchot, that is in turn 'measured' according to the letters in the Triad Havaya of 72, and both find their physical manifestation in Korach, where they define, in perfect context, the characteristics of the events. This is just one of many examples that comes to show how the cube [of creation] or foundation stone (combined cubic form of the shnei luchot) defines reality.
